Description: ‘I Need Your Love, Approval and Appreciation – Is That True?’

The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven..” (John Milton – Paradise Lost)

Many people look for a relationship, hoping it will be heaven, only to find out it can be hell! In the words of Byron Katie: “Everyone agrees that love is wonderful, except when it’s terrible…” So what role does our mind play in creating a loving and lasting bond with someone and how can we leave our self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors behind?

In this 2-day workshop led by ABC’s Spiritual Book Club members Richard Kwakernaak and Sagar Simon, the subject of relationships will be approached from various viewpoints, elaborating specifically on the fields of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Mindfulness and The Work of Byron Katie. This event is an opportunity to thoroughly investigate what you feel, believe and desire about relationships, without necessarily being consciously aware of it now. It serves to provide a space and time for finding inner peace and clarity, in support of living a joyful life. “Everyone agrees that love is wonderful, except when it’s terrible. People spend their whole lives tantalized by loveseeking it, trying to hold on to it, or trying to get over it. Not far behind love, as major preoccupations, come approval and appreciation. From childhood on, most people spend much of their energy in a relentless pursuit of these things, trying out different methods to be noticed, to please, to impress, and to win other people’s love, thinking that’s just the way life is. This effort can become so constant and unquestioned that we barely notice it anymore.

This book takes a close look at what works and what doesn’t in the quest for love and approval. It will help you find a way to be happier in love and more effective in all your relationships. What you learn here will bring fulfillment to all kinds of relationships, including romantic love, dating, marriage, work, and friendship.” Byron Katie

Then on Sunday June 3, Sagar Simon and Richard Kwakernaak will give their 2-hour Relationship Workshop (if you want to attend, please reserve your seat by sending me an email!):

One Moment in Time.

I was meeting with a friend visiting from Maui, and I walk out into the street focused on getting my bicycle. Thinking of what is the best way to get home.

And then, time stood still.

There was this man, this well dress man taking a woman, perhaps his wife out of his car and putting her in the wheel chair. And as he was helping her to get into the wheel chair she hit her hand on the door handle. And now this man was well dress wearing a very beautiful suit and bowtie perhaps he was eighty years old or older. And he stop what he was doing, went around to the front of the wheel chair and begin kissing this woman’s fingers, kissing her fingers there in the middle of this small and narrow street in the middle of amsterdam in front of a very exclusive hotel. This well dress dapper looking man, in the middle of the street kisses this woman’s fingers. You know I am so touched again, as I share this moment in time with you. To stop, to notice and express our kind nature. I am grateful to be available and present in such a moment. I looked and I also stood in the middle of the street and I tell you we were both kissing that woman’s fingers. I am so grateful. It is such a blessing. Love Sagar

Why not be kind?

I have been listening to Wayne Dyer and Byron Katie on being kind

What is being kind? I have discover being kind is saying hello, smiling at someone asking how is your day…

What it is to be kind? Why not be kind. That is kind to myself and for me it looks like, how are you doing, have a great day.

I was on the tram (here in Amsterdam) I saw someone listing to music and rocking back and forth, I said enjoying the music, the person looked like they did not speak English, however she gave me a big smile and a sign she was enjoying the music and the contact…Why not be kind?

Perhaps you can be kind to you today and make someone smile…

I love that for myself…
