Info and Registration: workshop@people-solutions.org

Description: ‘I Need Your Love, Approval and Appreciation – Is That True?’

The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven..” (John Milton – Paradise Lost)

Many people look for a relationship, hoping it will be heaven, only to find out it can be hell! In the words of Byron Katie: “Everyone agrees that love is wonderful, except when it’s terrible…” So what role does our mind play in creating a loving and lasting bond with someone and how can we leave our self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors behind?

In this 2-day workshop led by ABC’s Spiritual Book Club members Richard Kwakernaak and Sagar Simon, the subject of relationships will be approached from various viewpoints, elaborating specifically on the fields of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Mindfulness and The Work of Byron Katie. This event is an opportunity to thoroughly investigate what you feel, believe and desire about relationships, without necessarily being consciously aware of it now. It serves to provide a space and time for finding inner peace and clarity, in support of living a joyful life. The workshop will be fun, revealing and leave you with tools you can instantly use when noticing stress.

Hosts: Richard Kwakernaak (communication trainer and coach) and Sagar Simon (MD in Counseling, Gestalt Therapist and Hypnotherapist)

Unlimited thinking WD 40

Becoming Unstuck from everything

What is WD 40? It’d s spray oil we use it on almost everything which is stuck and needs to be freed from it’s rust or water damaged.

“It took them 40 attempts to get the water displacing formula worked out. WD-40®—which stands for Water Displacement and perfected on the 40th try—is still in use today.” and un-sticking all sorts of things.

So what is the point of talking about WD 40?

  1. I happen use on my bicycle chain and used lots of on my motorcycle and old VW Beetle.
  2. It took 40 tries to get it working. The only thing they knew that there is a way out of being stuck and rusted and things need to be moving again.
  3. Where is your focus. Wayne Dyer has talked about fly was not done by focusing on not flying and get iron ships to float was not done by focusing on the sinking of things. focus on getting things moving.
  4. If you can identify, the thoughts that keep you from having peace, clarity, joy and a wonderful life. You are in the beginning of the process of getting unstuck. Focusing on what is not working in your life, will give you more of what does not work and then becomes the proof that life is stuck and sucks. (And there is a book called why your life sucks by Alan h. Cohen worth reading).

Now back to WD 40 and the work of Byron Katie.

Using the JudgeYourNeighborworksheet down loadable at http://www.thework.com/dothework.php is the first step to identify your thoughts that are keeping you stuck (rusting and not moving). Then we apply the WD 40 that is the 4 questions and the turnarounds: http://www.thework.com/dothework.php to the thoughts that are keeping you stuck. And it could take 40 times or 1 time or 100 times to become unstuck.  Just think of it if the Wright brothers gave up after their first attempt. We would still be sitting on the ground wondering if we could fly? And just like in the case of developing WD 40 you never know when you suddenly become free or fly.

Applying the 4 questions and turnarounds to your stuck thoughts and then suddenly you are unstuck and free to fly. Love you Sagar give me a call to become unstuck.

Do You Believe in god ?

Someone today at a birthday party asked me if I believe in god? As I was taking about thework Byron Katie. Or something I can believe in, something beyond, more then myself. Where I could ask for guidance and help.

So for a long time at this party I was thinking what is it I wanted to say. And then someone talk about grace. And she was a singer and she stared to sing amazing grace. And that is what I want to share with you this person who asked the question and with you. What is god? I don’t know. Katie says, “god is good and god is everything”. So for me I will go with that and grace. Because as that lady sung amazing grace tears came to me and I could just fall on the ground and be grateful. Thank you. Amazing what a simple question can bring into being at an apparent ordinary party. I am so grateful for that simple question that left me in awe of what is. Thank you for listening.

    Honest Communication

Knowing the difference between loving someone and wanting him/her to do what you want doesn’t mean that you can’t ask for what you want. You can, knowing that his/her answer has nothing to do with his love for you. You’ll discover that asking is much easier when it’s free of hidden agendas.

And when he/she realizes that whatever he/she answers is fine with you, an amazing intimacy can open for you both.

    ————————————

    Exercise: An Honest No

Honest communication begins with you communicating with yourself. It means responding with what is true for you, regardless of how someone may react to your answer. First you have to discover what is really true for you. A dishonest yes is a no to yourself.

Try this exercise. Imagine simply saying no when you feel torn by a request. Look at what you think would happen, write down the fearful thoughts that arise, and question them, especially the ones that wound like “if I say no, he won’t love me” or “If I say no, she’ll think I don’t love her.

quoted from “I Need Your Love — is that true? by Byron Katie

“A MIND UNQUESTIONED IS THE WORLD OF SUFFERING”

When we are seeking, love approval and appreciation from others we suffer.

What is The Work of Byron Katie? The Work is a process that clears the mind. It is one of the most powerful methods ever devised to end human suffering. It is simple, radical, and life changing, and it can lead to a life of freedom and joy that most of us can’t even imagine yet. Everyone can do The Work. It requires no religious, no spiritual or intellectual preparation, no belief, and no psychological acuteness?just a desire to re-known the simple truth about you. The simplest definition of The Work is: four questions and a turnaround.

The only time we suffer is when we believe a thought that argues with what is. When the mind is perfectly clear, what is is what we want. The Work reveals that what you think shouldn’t have happened should have happened. It should have happened because it did, and no thinking in the world can change it. This doesn’t mean that you condone it or approve of it. It just means that you can see things without resistance and without the confusion of your inner struggle, and with this energy you can change now what you know to change.

There are two parts to The Work of Byron Katie. The first is writing out your judgments about any stressful situation in your life. The second is investigating each written statement, using the four questions, and then turning the statement around to experience what is as true or truer.

The Work of Byron Katie is natural to us. It is the key that unlocks and releases the answers within that set us free.
